As soon as the falling tide allowed, these men went to work getting this barge
ready to be used in dismantling the Bear River bridge. The backhoe is holding one of
the spud legs in place while a welder works on a support bracket. When the barge is being
used as a work platform, these spud legs will be lowered to the sea floor and pushed
downward into the bottom, to hold the barge in place against tidal currents and wind.
